Brief Biographical Overview William S. Jameson, B.S., D.D.S.

Dr. Jameson graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry with honors in 1954 and completed his postgraduate training in prosthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1962. He was certified as a Diplomate, the American Board of Prosthodontics in 1967. Following retirement from the Air Force as a Colonel in 1976, he was a member of the faculty of Oral Roberts University, School of Dentistry from 1976 to 1980 at which time he established a private practice limited to prosthodontics in Tucson, AZ. He retired in 1992 and has since served as a consultant and lecturer in prosthodontics as well as conducting a part time practice limited to complete dentures using linear occlusion. His many honors and achievements include "Certificate Of Achievement" for superior qualifications in the specialty of Prosthodontics, awarded by the Surgeon General, United States Air Force; Fellow, International College of Dentists; Founding Fellow, American College of Prosthodontists; Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year 1979-1980, Oral Roberts University, School of Dentistry, Tulsa, Oklahoma. His clinical endeavors have been limited to prosthetics since 1958 and his teaching experience in this arena ranged from pre-doctoral to interns and residents as well as Laboratory Officer in training as well as managing three full service laboratories. This diversity of experience enables him to effectively correlate and explain the interrelationship between clinical and laboratory procedures. His presentations have covered complete dentures, removable partial dentures and implant reconstruction. His primary focus centers on denture esthetics and the use of linear occlusion to prevent anterior hyperfunction in combination cases.

His article, published in The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Fabrication and use of a metal reinforcing frame in a fracture-prone mandibular complete denture (April 2000), was selected for inclusion in Dental Abstracts as well as Dental Abstracts en Espanol. The use of linear occlusion to treat a patient with "combination syndrome": a clinical report was also published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry (January 2001). General Dentistry, the journal of the Academy of General Dentistry, published Linear occlusion: An alternative tooth form and occlusal concept as used in complete denture prosthodontics in July-August 2001. Dynesthetic and Dentogenic Concept Revisited was published in the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry in July 2002. Also published in General Dentistry, Use of linear occlusion with fixed restorations opposing a mandibular complete denture: A Clinical Report in May-June 2003, Various clinical situations and their influence on linear occlusion in treating combination syndrome: a discussion of treatment options in Sept-Oct 2003 as well as Combining fixed and removable restorations with linear occlusion to treat combination syndrome: A Clinical Report in March-April 2004.
